Prof Genevieve McArthur

Introduction

The goal of my research is to understand what causes reading difficulties, how these difficulties can be identified and treated effectively, and how they are linked to a person's wellbeing. I am a passionate advocate for the rapid translation of scientific knowledge into real-world practice.

In the past, I have held academic positions at the University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Oxford University, and Macquarie University. I am currently a Professor at the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy at ACU (Sydney) and the Director of Research Translation at the Dyslexia SPELD Foundation (Perth).  I also support the research translation efforts of MOTIf, the Australian Literacy Clinic, Street Library Australia, Literacy Planet, and Bookbot.

I would like to acknowledge the efforts of all the people who have contributed to the work included in these pages. I would also like to acknowledge  the traditional custodians of the lands upon which I live and work: the Whadjuk Noongar people and the Cammeraygal clan of the Darug Nation.
